Klassiek op het Amstelveld is a yearly free entrance open air festival in Amsterdam, with the emphasis on classical music and youth.

Unique in The Netherlands
The festival offers a stage to all playing levels, from beginner and advanced to the greatest top talents. During the Open Stage everybody from the age of 4 and upwards may present themselves on the big stage and more than 80 children grab the chance to do so. For some of these young artists, there is a chance to progress to the Main Program in a future festival edition.

In the Main Program, professional orchestras, ensembles, choirs and soloists perform together with youth especially for the occasion, to inspire them and boost their motivation to the highest level.

The festival is open to everyone
Everybody is welcome to come by and enjoy children playing classical music or being amazed by upcoming top talent and big names that perform classical music on the highest level. Klassiek op het Amstelveld offers high quality classical music for free on a public location in the old centre of Amsterdam to inspire many people in the most accessible way.

Talent development and education are key
In addition to stage programs, an extensive education program has been created on Sunday, with workshops, masterclasses and family concerts for all ages and levels. These take place on two church locations next to the Amstelveld square: the Amstelkerk and The Duif. The program is being created in cooperation with, among others, Nationale Opera & Ballet and Het Balletorkest.

Extraordinary locations
Every year the festival takes place on the picturesque Amstelveld, one of the few squares in crowded central Amsterdam. The Amstelveld is surrounded by 18th century buildings and old wingnut trees, that give the square a particularly pleasant atmosphere and acoustics. This makes the festival an unforgettable experience for all visitors. Moreover, the festival uses two unique church locations next to the Amstelveld, thanks to the collaboration with Stadsherstel Amsterdam.
